We presented the activities of SiLNG project to Croatian public and plans to build more filling stations by Croatian highways by 2025 ...

The first filling station for liquefied natural gas (LNG) or LNG for commercial vehicles in Croatia will open in the first half of next year. The partner company Butan Gas from Novigrad envisages opening LNG-filling stations in all major Croatian cities by 2020, while the entire national network should be completed by 2030. Where the first filling station will be built, – either in the Croatian capital or in Rijeka, largely depends on the interest of road transport carriers. By 2025, it is planned to build at least 11 charging stations at the Croatian highways.

Each filling station will cost about one million EUR, which is about half the money provided from the European Union funds. The introduction of LNG in road transport in Croatia is part of the European Union project funded program “LNG instrument for the integration of Europe”. It also envisages the construction of filling stations and seaside ports, which are intended to shipping, particularly ferries. The first filling station of that kind was built in Split. Croatia expects that an LNG terminal will be built by the end of this decade, on the island Krk.
